The PwC First Generation Undergraduate of the Year Award is an award that recognises and celebrates the achievements of students who are the first in their family to attend university. The award is open to students from any degree discipline. The award is open to students from any degree discipline who demonstrate certain skills and qualities, such as self-motivation, proactivity, diversity, teamwork, communication and resilience.

What could you win?

A place on the PWC Talent Academy.  

You will spend three days getting to know more about the work we do and the value we add to our clients’ businesses as you explore our three service offerings—Assurance, Consulting, Deals Advisory and Tax. Our Talent Academy is all about you and figuring out what you want. You will develop valuable business skills, discover where your strengths and interests lie, and have the opportunity to ask questions about a future with us. You will also hear from people of all levels and backgrounds and get an insight into the diverse range of fulfilling careers on offer at PwC Ireland.

What makes an award winner?

A winner for the this award is someone who has shown resilience, determination and excellence in their journey to third level education. It is someone who has overcome the challenges and barriers that come with being the first in their family to pursue higher education.

To enter you need to:
  • Be the first generation in a family to attend University.
  • On track for a 2.1  
  • Be in first or second year of undergraduate course.
  • The award is open to students from all universities and degree disciplines.

Receive an email inviting you to complete two assessments designed exclusively by our partner SHL.

Your details & online assessments must be submitted and completed by 23rd February 2024.

If you are successful in getting through to the next stage, you will hear from us by 5 March 2024.

Assessment centre

The top 10 shortlisted candidates will be reviewed by PwC.  

The process to determine the award winner will involve a virtual, face-to-face or phone interview.

Grand final

The final shortlist of ten students will be invited to the awards ceremony on 10th April 2024, at the Aviva Stadium where the award winners will be announced.
